Axle Replacement
I had to do something about the 35 in the Chief and got a hold of a set of 3.55:1 axles, that will give me a bit of an edge on gearing and get rid of the bad axle…
Out with the Old…

I started out by removing the old Dana 30 so I could swap the new one in.
After that I replaced the ball joints & bushings in the “new” axle and put it in.
I then removed the rear axle and installed the “new” 35. It was then that I realized that either Ron or I made a mistake with the tape measure when flipping the spring perches. While the perches were the correct distance apart they were offset to the right about two inches, so now the rear end was shifted to the left. Oops.
