Well I got tired of killing carpet so I cut myself a 3/4″ plywood deck for when I’m hauling axles and other bulky / dirty objects.  An added bonus is that it is much easier to slide axles in and out of the vehicle.  I also cut holes to access my tie down hooks as I’m pretty paranoid about securing loads.
