More Interior Work
I got the rust holes patched up in the ’96, as usual here is the progress.

See more below.
I started out by cutting my sheetmetal patches and roughly shaping them to the floor pan. I usd 16 gauge steel for the top of the floorpan and 22 gauge for the bottom. After I cut the pieces I took them over to the drill press and drilled holes about every 1.5″ along the edge for rivets. Then I took them to the Jeep, set them in place, and drilled matching holes in the floorpan. After that I set all the overlaid pieces in and drilled those rivets. After all that (and a quick run to Lowes to get a replacement 1/8″ drill bit) I mixed up the 3M Structual Adhesive.
Then I simply spread it out, laid the pieces down, and riveted them into place I then spread seam sealer across all the seams and rivets and coated with Rustoleum and on both sides and rubberized undercoating on the underside, there should be no water issues in this area anymore.
Since the cabin is torn apart the carpet will be getting a nice detailed cleaning and the passenger floorpan will be getting some additional heat shielding. It should look and feel quite nice when I get it all back together.
That was it for today. Hopefully I’ll get the bolts in next week to resume work on the engine.
