Our First Annual Kern River trip was a disaster. Not only did we have issues on the trip itself but on the way back my Jeep started overheating badly. I made it as far as Bakersfield before stopping for the night, the plan was to refill the radiator, check it out, and drive back home Monday morning. When Monday came around I filled the radiator and started the drive, unfortunately within a few miles it started overheated. Holly and Patty ended up renting a car to go back home while I stayed with the Jeep. I called Richard, one of my NAXJA buddies, and he helped me diagnose it. Ultimately I had to leave the Jeep there and take a bus home, the following weekend another Richard from NAXJA lent me his truck and trailer so I could get it home, it was a few points off my pride but a lot of help by these guys whom I’d never actually met.
